Hey guys, I just found out I got rejected from CalArts. Im pretty bummed about this since I was really confident I would get in this time. This isn’t stopping me from reapplying though!
I want to congratulate all of my friends who were accepted this year, Im so proud of you guys!
The hills are finally green in California!! I went for a walk near the cow pasture last week and saw this coyote running around with a calf. It was probably trying to lure it but the whole thing looked like a game of tag, I like to think the latter.
Anonymous asked: can we see your portfolio?? did you submit it??
Hi anon, if you’re referring to my CalArts portfolio I don’t feel too comfortable posting it at the moment but will do once I get a letter (acceptance or not). I also forgot to scan my sketchbook before submitting but my blog does have some pages if you’re interested. :)
Some landscape sketches I did around a lake. The scanner messed with the color a bit.
Redwood Faces Growing Over Rock In Paradise
One of the more interesting scenes I’ve stumbled across - a huge redwood overtaking a boulder and taking on anthropomorphic shapes. The top one looks like Cro-Magnon man, the middle kinda looks like one of those Easter Island sculptures and the bottom one reminds me of a fair maiden taking in the perfect view.

I’m not a Naruto fan but my first job involved making a lot of backgrounds and things for Naruto flash games for cartoon network (leaf village tilesets, little floating ramens, kunai icons, loading screens, that sort of thing) so I ended up watching/screenshotting a lottttt of Naruto. I really wanted to like it because I love the idea of it but I just…didn’t (I also later read like 400 chapters of the manga but that didn’t work either)
That said, I would have to work pretty hard not to like this guy, I think
Some studies I did of my house and Round Valley Regional Preserve.
